YSWPCS SUMMER CAMP 2022

We are happy to announce that YSWPCS will host Summer Camp for students (Current K-7). Thanks to ESSER Grant that YSWPCS received, this program will be free of charge for all students. Summer Camp will be a total of four weeks. Students do not have to attend the whole program. Some sessions will last four weeks, but there are weekly clubs/activities. Please make your selection depending on your schedule. Our space is limited, so please make sure to pick the dates you will be able to attend. There will be one morning and one-afternoon session. You may choose different activities for morning and afternoon sessions; also, if you are planning to attend only one session, that would be fine.

YSWPCS Scholastic Book Fair

Dear Parents and families:

We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our staff, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.

After missing out on many beloved traditions, our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from January 31 – February 4, 2022 at YSWPCS Gym & Stage:

  • Our Book Fair offers a cash-free payment option called eWallet. It’s a convenient digital account that your child can use for shopping at our Fair. Grandparents, friends, and others can contribute, too!
  • If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop online at our school’s Virtual Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.

Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/yswpcs

We’re excited to celebrate our love of books together at the Book Fair. We look forward to seeing your child there!

Happy reading,

John Demir

YSWPCS SCHOOL CHOICE WEEK 2022

“Happy National School Choice Week!

This is celebrated each year from January 23-29. We are so exited to celebrate this each year and want to extend our gratefulness to our families who have exercised their right to school choice by picking Young Scholars of WPA to be a part of your child’s education journey! Please watch the video that was organized by Mrs. Thornhill, Mrs. Ritchie and Ms. Marcinko. This video has been submitted to the National School Choice Week committee and will join videos from many other schools across the nation!

Our Scholars are definitely showing some Tiger Pride here!

The Universal Competition of Educational Poster 2021

UniCEP is an international online educational poster competition conducted annually by the organizing committee of UniCEP. It aims to give the opportunity for every single student to share his/her imaginations and dreams related to the selected topics.

240 poster designs from 17 countries were submitted. The results were announced on December 15, 2021.  Mr. Sahin and Mrs. Fernandes coordinated efforts and 8 Scholars submitted artwork and 3 Scholars placed in this competition!  Sahana Mahendran (5th Grade) won a Bronze Medal while Liliane Adadji (3rd Grade) and Alayah Jerome (4th Grade) received Honorable Mentions!

Trunk or Treat

“On October 29, 2021, YSWPCS parent volunteers decorated tables in the gym and passed out Halloween treats to our students!  It may have been raining and dreary outside but there was nothing but fun being had inside!  We want to thank our students and staff for dressing up in such creative costumes and to our parent volunteers who really made the afternoon special!”

Red Ribbon Week

“Red Ribbon Week is a celebration of YSWPCS students and staffs dedication to living a drug and alcohol free life!  Our students and staff turned Red Ribbon Week into a School Spirit Week by showcasing our commitment on different themed days (Wear Red Day, Team Up Against Drugs Day, School Pride Day, Don’t Get Mixed Up in Drugs Day, and Halloween Dress Up Day).  The school even got decorated in student made posters sharing the message that we want to stay healthy and away from drugs!”

Back to School Nights 2021

On October 20th and 21st, our families were able to come to Young Scholars of WPA Charter School and view presentations made by our teachers about the curriculum that Young Scholars has to offer their children.  Parents were also able to see work that their Scholars have completed throughout the 1st Trimester!
